Most of the Mah Meri communities live along the southern coast of Selangor, from Sungai Pelek up to Pulau Carey. According to a government census from the Orang Asli office, the Mah Meri numbered around 2,200 in 2005. The ethnic language is called Besisi and there are an estimated 3,000 people who still speak the language.
